Training Camp Begins for New Season

Last Updated 23 Sep 2009

Once again, as September comes and students return to University, the Paisley Pyros begin gearing up for another season. Last year the Pyros had their most successful season ever under new head coach Ian Smith, and are looking to improve on that success this year. The Pyros went undefeated in the regular season last year, and won their first even playoff game. They then lost to the Northern Conference champion Newcastle Raiders in the second round. The Pyros should be much stronger this year with a solid coaching staff in place, several returning veterans, and a new influx of rookies to become the new Pyros class.

The new season will kick-off on November 15th, when The Pyros will host the UT Cougars at home. This should be a great match, with the teams battling closely in last years game. The Pyros came out victorious on that day, the difference being a safety on the first play of the game by DE Kevin Gray. The final score was 8-6.

The Pyros have also moved training to Wednesday evenings, 1830-2030, on astroturf. Sunday training will remain the same.

For more information on the upcoming season, or to volunteer your help (we are always looking for sideline help!) please email the Pyros committee at pyroscommittee@hotmail.com.
